Unique Crown Molding Above A Kitchen Window
I could never decide what to put above my kitchen window. It is a focal point, and I wanted something unique. Then one day, while browsing around Hobby Lobby, I spotted this wooden accent piece. Something about the shape and design appealed to me.
I loved the look, but the piece needed some work. First, I painted and stained it to match the window frame. I wanted it to look like it was part of the frame.
Next, I extended the piece to the exact width of my window. I purchased a small wood board, wood scrolls, and crown molding trim. All items can be found at a home improvement store and are inexpensive. I cut the board and sanded. Then I painted and stained the additions. I attached everything with wood glue. The scroll hides the seam. The trim on the bottom gives a more finished look.
Finally, I secured it to the wall. The piece sits on top of the window frame and is attached to the wall like a picture. I wanted to be able to remove it and didn’t want to make it permanent.
